What’s Cool on Kickstarter

Journal of Lovecraftian Science: Volume 1
I love science and I love the Mythos. So this kickstarter is right up my alley. You’ll get a nice set of collected articles on the science of the Mythos, and how Lovecraft integrated science into his work.

“Since September 2013 I have posted numerous articles discussing how Lovecraft used science in his stories. The first series of articles was an expansion on some of the ideas and concepts I presented on the Biology of the Old Ones at the NecronomiCon. Subsequent articles have included investigations on a story-specific basis, as well as on specific subject matters, such as the solar system, the use of Einstein’s theories in Lovecraft’s stories, the role of fungi in Lovecraft’s fiction, and how Lovecraft would actually modify his stories to agree with emerging scientific ideas and discoveries. Some more academic and philosophical subjects were also discussed such as how Lovecraft attempted to use science to justify some of his racist views and how his materialism philosophy impacted his work.I also include artwork from various artists citing the artist and identifying where the artwork was found. One of the artists I most frequently work with is Steve Maschuck.”

Neon Sanctum
This is another card based RPG, I’m not really sure what makes these really popular right now. But the setting looks like a lot of fun, and they’re definitely pulling from some excellent sources. I love the look of these cards.

“Neon Sanctum is a card based RPG set in a unique world where the post apocalypse and cyberpunk collide. This world takes inspiration from films such as Blade Runner, Dredd and Ghost in the Shell as well as games such as videogames such as Shadowrun Returns and The Last of Us.

Cards are used to represent all the things players would expect in a traditional roleplaying game (RPG). A character’s skills, their cybernetic implants, their equipment and even the enemies they meet are all brought to life with beautiful cards.”

Chaos of Cthulhu
I think the best part of this game is getting to randomly create your own horrors with the roll of a die. It looks like a lot of fun, and the pieces that come with the game are really cool looking.

“A pantheon of Elder Beings from the mind of H. P. Lovecraft has been unwittingly set loose in the basement of the teenager next door. The catch? The Necronomicon, or Book of the Dead, used to summon the creatures was torn asunder in an argument between the teen and her friends. The stars are definitely not aligned, the essential grimoire has been mended with tape, and the monsters appear as mix-matched abominations, eager to do battle. The tournament begins…

Take hold of the damaged tome and summon forth a Lovecraftian monster formed from 6 different Old Ones & Dark Minions. Then clash in dice battle to see which abomination comes out on top, or be the first to form a whole and complete Old One to claim total dominion. Part strategy, part luck…all Madness!”

buddingSTEM
I loved dinosaurs and spaceships and all that when I was little, and there really wasn’t options for me to express that in my clothes. Sadly, there still isn’t. That’s why I love these clothes for little girls who just want to run around with dinosaurs and spaceships on their clothes. If I wanted to have kids, I would be snapping these up in an instant for my future spawn.

“We tell our girls they can do anything. Be anything.

So, why is it so hard to find clothes for young girls who want to explore the universe or dig for dinosaurs?

buddingSTEM is ready to change that — with a complete line of girls’ clothing celebrating space, dinosaurs, and other things all kids love!

We’ve spent the last year designing our own prints and working with a textile designer to bring them to life. We have manufacturers ready to go in Los Angeles and Seattle. We are ready to start production as soon as we are funded. Once our clothes are made, we will open our e-commerce store at buddingSTEM.com, and we have a solid business plan for getting our products into stores.”

FF6 Dice Prestigious Metal Dice for the Digital Age
I couldn’t figure out these dice at first, but at last I figured out that the whole face is a number. They’re really cool and unique, and would be a great addition to any dice collection.

“Most people’s reaction after studying the FF6 is to say ‘but there are only 1 or 2 groves on each side?’ I then tell them to ignore the groves and focus on the whole die face, after studying it for a little bit longer, they smile and say ‘Wow…that’s cool’.”

Wamp Select Series Paintbrushes
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve only painted one miniature, but these brushes look really nice. If I were going to start painting them again, I would want a set like this.

“So we have created the Select Range. A set of high quality brushes that use the finest materials. Each brush designed for a specific task and labelled for quick and easy identification. No more wondering what size for what job! This makes it easy for beginners to utilise the range. Afterall a good brush is a great way to improve your painting. Likewise expert painters will appreciate the Pure Kolinsky Sable used for the bristles, the best material you can buy.

Our brushes are designed to cover a whole host of tasks with brushes for blending, freehand, lining and more.”
