I’m excited to read more about the setting, and I hope it continues to get even darker then keeping a living thing imprisoned and cut into to feed the population. If you want to add a new setting to your 5e game, Salt in Wounds would be an amazing place to explore.

“Salt in Wounds is a fictional city; a detail-rich dark fantasy setting designed specifically for tabletop roleplaying games (although it can be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates intricate works of imagination). More specifically, Salt in Wounds is a city whose culture, economy, and existence is beholden to the reality of the giant, regenerating kaiju called the ‘Tarrasque’ which is imprisoned within the city center so it can be butchered over and over again.”

Hudson and Brand
Call of Cthulhu is one of my favorite games, and I love seeing it show up in different eras of history. Hudson and Brand brings Cthulhu to Victorian England, and I am so much in love with this idea. I’m 100% ready to be a Call of Cthulhu investigator sneaking around Victorian England.

“Hudson & Brand: Inquiry Agents of the Obscure is the first in our ‘Safe House’ series where players of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game (published by Chaosium, Inc), have a home-base for their characters to work out of. At hand, they will have resources, a gun range, a collection of monographs on various subjects, a small library, three members of staff, and property consisting of offices and lodgings in the very heart of London.

The book will also contain numerous case files written by Hudson & Brand (both of whom are now missing), NPCs, plans, scenario seeds, and an adventure. It will be edited by Jeff Moeller, and written by Robert Grayston & Stephanie McAlea. Art is by Jon Gibbons and Stephanie McAlea, along with numerous period photographs and images. This is the second Call of Cthulhu Kickstarter from Stygian Fox Publishing (The Things We Leave Behind being our first), and our third in total (the other being the fantasy gazetteer; Distant Realms).

Taking its inspirational cues from Sherlock Holmes, Ripper Street, Auguste Dupin, The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher, and The Incendiary’s Trail, the book takes a mature look at the horror of Mythos machinations and the many dark corners in the seat of empire.”

Darwin’s Origin of Species Picture Book
I grew up in a community that was pretty anti-evolution, and learning about it as I pursued my interest in science has fostered a deep love. I love the idea of a picture book to share the concept with kids or as a pretty coffee table book to flip through.

“In 1831, Darwin embarked on a five-year survey voyage around the world on the HMS Beagle. In 1859, he published On the Origin of Species where he describes his findings. The book is still a bestseller on websites like Amazon, despite the fact that it was written 150 years ago.

A new study suggests that introducing the topic early to children using pictures and stories promotes better understanding later in school (Gopnik, A., 2014. Teaching Tots Evolution via Picture Books – WSJ). I would like to create a picture book adaptation that will explain Darwin’s theory in an engaging and accessible style. A picture book is a perfect medium for conveying complex ideas to children – minimal text works together with imagery to carry the meaning along. The book is suitable for kids from 4-12 years old. I believe such book will be enjoyed by grownups too. It will help you introduce Darwin’s theory to your child, inspire them and spark interest in science. It can be a coffee table book, a valuable gift or a pretty addition to your bookshelf.”

Synthicide
Synthicide is a dark sci-fi setting where human life is worth nothing. It uses a 1d10 system created by the author for the setting. You play as a human, even if you have some cybernetics. I’m interested in the dystopian elements of the setting, as well as the elements of intrigue and investigation.

“Humanity collapsed having failed to quarantine a mutant plague. Centuries later, mankind clings to civilization on the rim of the Milky Way. You are a Sharper, a free agent performing criminal missions for gangs and corporations alike. A corrupt and powerful machine cult, the Tharnaxist Church, makes no effort to hinder you. But that changes when you’re hired to terminate one of their holy automatons – a crime known as Synthicide…”

Fiendish Fanatics
No matter what, there’s always more cultists, coming out of the shadows like cockroaches. Luckily for you, there’s also a new set of cultist miniatures to diversify your collection.

“This time the focus is on expanding the human element of the Mythos range in the form of some new Cultists. The Cult consists of fifteen members, representing the Brothers and Sisters of whichever deity you choose for them to worship. They range from all parts of society and all ages.”

Still active!

Loaded Dice
Filigree in Shadow
Fidget Cube
Scroll and Codex Dice Tower and Rolling Tray
Lovecraft Brewing Online Shop
Voyage of Fortune’s Star: A 7th Sea cRPG
The Deck Jacket

There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.
