Tales from the Loop: Roleplaying in the 80’s That Never Happened<\/strong><\/a> “In 1954, the Swedish government ordered the construction of the world\u2019s largest particle accelerator. The facility was complete in 1969, located deep below the pastoral countryside of M\u00e4lar\u00f6arna. The king is 5 and 1\/4 inches tall from the base to his crown and the pawn is 3 inches tall, which is quite big for a chess set. They are designed to go on a tournament sized board or larger, (squares that are at least 2 and 1\/4 inches to a side) and a board is included if you get the full chess set. They are cast in a durable resin and weighted at the bottom for stability and easier play. The bronze and silver versions are made with cold cast metals and burnished to bring out the metallic luster. The marble white and the jade green stretch goal version are made with slightly translucent resin to give them a glow. \nThis game reminds me of Stranger Things, where you play kids in the 80’s investigating the strange going-ons in the town you live in. However, this town has some cool and creepy scifi stuff going on in the background. The game was inspired by art, and in turn the art in it is beautiful, very realistic, making the appearance of the machines even stranger. <\/p>\n

\nThis is an incredibly cool chess set. I love that it’s based on the abyss, and especially that they picked the squid to be a bishop, because it’s the perfect fit. Each piece is full of details, and it is so expensive. If you don’t like the resin versions, you can even get the hand-painted versions of these figures, which look even more amazing. <\/p>\n
\nIf you have an in person group to play with and use grids for combat, you should look into investing in Dungeon Worlds tiles. These are cool and and each tile will help bring your world to life. This Kickstarter expands the Pub and frontier, and then adds a new Dwarven mine. <\/p>\nStill active!<\/h4>\n
