I decided to try out another RPG-themed subscription box, so this month I received my first box from Dungeon Crate<\/a>! Dungeon Crate has been going since about the beginning of the year, and they have pictures of what was in the previous boxes which gave me a better idea of what I could expect in my box. Each box has a theme, and the one I received was Elementally Speaking, with lots of elemental-related items.<\/p>\n

\"Shows<\/a><\/p>\n

I like that the box looks like a treasure chest, and it was full of a bunch of cool Elemental themed miniatures and other items. One of these was a d20 coaster from\u00a0Pigseyart, and I really want the full set now. There is also a water weird Reaper miniature, which from what I know of miniatures is a pretty nice brand. It looks like it’s coming out of a well. I really like that it’s a transparent blue, and the Reaper site shows that most people paint the well. If I ever get paint, I’ll be sure to make sure he has a beautiful well home.<\/p>\n

There are some other miniatures included as well, first are the flat plastic miniatures from ArcKnight Games, which are really detailed, and the picture is on both sides so it holds up from either side. Weirdly, they sent six miniatures and four bases, so I can’t have all of them in use at once. But I like the details on them. The other set of miniatures are acrylic cutouts from Advance Deployment and are pretty cool as well. There’s not a lot of detail, but they’re pretty easily identifiable as water, fire, air, and earth elementals. There was also what I assume is a condition token to put under a miniature that’s currently on fire.<\/p>\n

\"Picture<\/a><\/p>\n

My favorite things in the box were, of course, the dice. The dice are all from the Metallic Dice\u00a0Games. I already have a set of Opalite dice from them that I really like, and now I have a set of tiny dice to add to my collection. These dice are a lovely marbled blue with gold lettering, and would be great to carry for travelling. There is also a bronze d20 also from MDG, that has a really great heft. While it’s sad I didn’t get the full set of this die, I did get a coupon to get a full set a great discount. There was also a coin with a fire breathing dragon from Rare Elements Foundry, which is quite substantial. One coin might not be something easy to use as a prop in a game, but it would work for inspiration or some other counter.<\/p>\n

\"Set<\/a><\/p>\n

I really liked the dice that I got in this set, and I think a lot of the other content included was pretty nice. The Dungeon Crate focused on physical props and miniatures that can be used at the table more than the other RPG subscription box I tried, and all of the things they sent me were high quality and really interesting. If Aser and I ever manage to get a physical group together, I think a box like this could be really beneficial for building up my collection of miniatures as long as I don’t care that my collection is a mix of models, acrylic cutouts, and whatever other options they find. I really wish they would announce the box themes before sending them out so you could know if you were interested in picking it up. If they did announce it, I couldn’t find where on their site.<\/p>\n
