What’s Cool on Kickstarter

There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.

7th Sea Second Edition
7th Sea has to be the first item on this list. Besides being an amazingly fun game where you can be a swashbuckling hero, it’s also breaking Kickstarter Tabletop records. It’s the third most funded RPG Kickstarter and it isn’t even near being done yet. If you like pirates, heroes, and stories like the Three Musketeers, this is the game for you. This kickstarter is also introducing new continents, South America and Africa equivalents.

“Since its release in 1999, 7th Sea has brought thousands of fans into the world of Théah—a place very similar to our own Europe in the year 1668. Inspired by the works of Alexandre Dumas, The Princess Bride, and other novels and movies of high adventure, 7th Sea played fast and furious, emulating the pace we’ve come to expect from movies such as Captain Blood, The Three Musketeers, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

And now 7th Sea is back in the hands of its original creator—that’s me! John Wick!—and that means it’s time to bring 7th Sea back to your gaming table!”

The Dragon Sheath
These are gorgeous. I held out for about 10 minutes before harassing Aser about how I needed a birthday present and I can’t wait to get mine. These cases hold the basic components of what you need to carry to the game table, including dice, a pencil, and a miniature. You can choose from more then 10 interior options, as well as a variety of woods and stains, and there are a ton of sculpts that are options to choose from, and you get to pick one for each side.

“Organize your gaming supplies in this high quality, customizable sheath. This solid piece of hardware is designed specifically for tabletop and RPG gamers – you pick the wood, the sculpts on each side, and the interior chamber.

Dragon Sheaths measure approximately 8.5″ x 2.25″ x 2.0″. The interior comes in a variety of options designed for your gear. All wood is hand selected for durability, beauty, and a lifetime of gaming. The magnets are 0.25″ rare earth neodymium and give a satisfying snap when closed (they are incredibly strong!). All Dog Might products are double coated with a custom mixed varnish for superb luster and protection.”

Mysteries of the Yōkai: An RPG Inspired by Japanese Folklore
I’m really intrigued by this RPG and it’s roots in Japanese folklore. I don’t know too much about the myths that exist in Japan, but there’s a lot there that would be really cool to explore and play in.

“Mysteries of the Yōkai is a tabletop role-playing game set in a lost era of ancient Japan. Strange encounters and supernatural incidents are on the rise. Ghostly yūrei haunt the night, hoping to be laid to rest, wily kitsune exploit the politics of a corrupt Imperial Court, and baku sip the sweet dew of dreams and nightmares. Of all the many denizens of the spiritual world, the yōkai, creatures of countless shapes, sizes, and temperaments, have the greatest effect over our world. Regardless of their capabilities, even yōkai cannot escape the changing tides of power, especially as humanity grows in strength. The innocent, be they yōkai or human, are in danger.

You are the wanderers, warriors, investigators, doctors, priests, and anyone else who has risen to the call. Regardless of your reasons, you find yourself face to face with the unknown. Now you must ask yourself, how will you approach it?

Mysteries of the Yōkai is built from the ground up to support engaging narratives involving the themes, archetypes, and mythological figures that are found in Japanese stories—be they mischievous spirits, strange creatures, tragic ghosts, potent magics, elaborate exorcisms, noble samurai, or supernatural mysteries.”

Cubi Dice: The Smallest Titanium Dice
These are adorably tiny d6, and you can take them with you anywhere on your keychain. I wish it was a full polyhedral set, but these are still pretty awesome.

“CUBi is world’s first 5 mm titanium gaming die made with precise machining. Whether you’re a board gamer, collector or just into cool stuff we believe you will love the CUBi. It comes with a specially designed keychain for dice storing. Take it with you wherever you go.”

Legendary Metal Coins
There are Cthulhu coins! Also Viking, Egyptian, and some others, but the Cthulu coins are really great, and could be a great prop with games that involve your players making poor choices with Deep One gold.
