What’s Cool on Kickstarter

There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.

Noisy Person Cards
I’m a huge fan of Kat Kuhl and James D’Amato of Campaign and One Shot podcast fame. This game from them helps you develop new voices for your characters and NPCs in games, as well as have fun using silly voices with your friends. They’ve also made it easy to play with your more inappropriate adult friends and remove cards to play it with kids.

“Noisy Person Cards (NPC) is a party game designed to help people develop new character voices for roleplaying games. If you’re looking to take your role playing to the next level, have a passing interest in voice acting, or want to get some laughs in while killing time before a game, NPC belongs at your table! The core set of Noisy Person Cards comes with 100 unique Character Cards and 500 hilarious Phrase Cards!

Though NPC can be enjoyed by anyone who likes silly voices and classic fantasy tropes, we designed it as a tool for roleplayers. In the work we do on The ONE SHOT Network, we strive to make roleplaying more accessible. For our first game at Paracosm, we wanted to make a tool for people who want to improve their roleplaying skills. While voicing characters isn’t necessary to have fun at your table, it can make an already good thing better! NPC challenges you to invent a variety of character voices in a pressure-free environment. You’re almost guaranteed to walk away from a game with a list of voices you know everyone likes, giving you the confidence to use those voices in a game.”

Liber Veneficii: The Book of Poisons
Unless you happen to study poisons as a hobby it might be hard to come up with what cool poison the rogue just managed to inflict upon themselves at a moments notice. This book will help! It has poisons from a variety of sources and illustrations for each. It’s made to look like a lost textbook and would look awesome on any gaming shelf.

“For use by both player and Game Master alike, Liber Veneficii is written as a scholarly work, authored in the distant past by the College of Mages, and used to train guards, assayers, and praegustators.

Liber Veneficii contains real-world information on plants, snakes and vipers, arachnids, mushrooms, metals, and compounds, as well as poisonous properties of mythical creatures. Included in this volume are 12 unique fantasy recipes for deadly concoctions, a section on methods of poison delivery, and unique magical items.”

Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure
This point and click computer game looks like it has a lot of fun being what it is. It takes inspiration from some of my favorites, including Hitchcock and Lovecraft. The art looks very rich and and I think the story could be a lot of fun.

“Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure is a PC Mac Linux comedy point ‘n click love letter to classic-era Lucas Arts adventures, Hitchcock, HP Lovecraft, and many, many others. A lighthearted spoof of the Cthulhu Mythos, Gibbous will have you controlling 3 protagonists, dealing with strange cultists, ancient voodoo, and Dead Cthulhu himself. Well, “dead” is just a matter of opinion…”
