There’s many interesting items to be found on Kickstarter, but these are the coolest ones this week.
This two person game lets you and the person you’re playing with build up tension as you build up the history of two samurai that were once friends, but now are mortal enemies. It’s a rewrite of the game A Single Moment, but it looks like the changes really help build up the background.
“Reflections is a two-player RPG about samurai that will duel to the death. The game begins with the two players setting the scene of their duel, then flashing back to play through the events that have led them to this moment. The game ends when one, or both, samurai are dead.”
Gloom is a hilarious card game with some interesting mechanics that I’ve only had the opportunity to play once. But I really enjoyed it. Now they’re working on a PC version, which makes it a lot easier to play when you don’t have a group of people around.
“In Gloom, you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your Characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death.
You’ll play horrible mishaps like Pursued by Poodles or Mocked by Midgets on your own Characters to lower their Self-Worth scores, while trying to cheer your opponents’ Characters with marriages and other happy occasions that pile on positive points. When one of your family members finally suffers an Untimely Death, that Character and all of the tragic circumstances that led up to his demise are set aside until the end of the game.”
Dice in Space
If you have a bunch of cool dice already, it’s time to consider getting a die that’s been cool enough to go to space. These d6 will be pretty unique and a great talking piece for your collection.
“You need something VERY special for your show room/ glass cabinet, player round, board game geeks? Or a gift for someone, who is very special? Or for someone who already has everything? After funding this kickstarter project we will get all the stuff we need to send a probe head with lots of stuff (see below, incl. up to 250 DICE IN SPACE per flight) aided by a big weather balloon (filled with Helium) into the stratosphere!”
